Audit Manager Aegon Asset Management

Job purpose

The purpose of the Audit Managers’ role is to deliver added value Asset Management audits to the various stakeholders in or outside the AAM organisation. It is the responsibility of the (Senior) Audit Manager to direct, coordinate and execute [hands on] the necessary audit work and information gathering required for the job. This includes: Key stakeholder account management [such as having frequent meetings, representing the CAE AAM on several regulatory and non-regulatory committees], planning and control of the annual planning process, planning and control of the audit process, motivating and mentoring team members of the audit project and sharing information and knowledge on internal and external developments of his or her area of attention (Subject Matter Expert role) of the Asset Management value chain.

It is important to understand this role will require a substantial audit hands on approach (up to 70% in the first years) agility in thinking, demonstrate taking ownership and feeling responsible for the whole GAAM team member regardless their location. The next text is a summary of main concepts, and not to be seen as a complete checklist only [hence, not limited to], but as a direction.
 
The Global internal Audit Department for Aegon Asset Management (GAAM) is an established globally operating Internal Audit Department, Head Quartered in The Hague, the Netherlands. Our purpose is to provide internal audit services [assurance and non-assurance] to the Business Unit “Aegon Asset Management” located in the US, UK, NL, Spain, CEE, Asia Pacific and future business locations.
 
The Chief Audit Executive AAM (CAE AAM) directs and oversees all internal audit activities for Aegon Asset Management (AAM). The (Senior) Audit Manager (SAM) reports to the CAE AAM. The organisation of GAAM is aligned to the “Auditors Pooling Concept”. Regardless home countries, all (Senior) Audit Managers and Senior Auditors are deployable wherever there is the need for the “right skills, the right experience, the right competences and the right attitude”. This concept- will be described in the Combined Audit Approach Doctrine [CAAD under development] - and is called the “Auditors Pooling Concept [APC]”.
For statutory reasons only, some persons will hold regulatory designations (e.g. CF 28 or National Bank of Hungary registered), but this will not diminish their deployment elsewhere from the ACP.

Profile

As Audit Manager Aegon Asset Management  you have Demonstrated taking into account both the interests of Global Senior Asset Management leadership and Local Senior Asset Management Leadership.
 
 Moreover, you have the following qualifications:

  • Starting at 15 years of (internal) audit experience preferably in an internationally operating Internal Audit Department in Banking, Asset Management, Private Wealth Management or similar financial (banking type) of industry on the aforementioned level. Demonstrated an interest in the products and business of Asset Management or Investment Management.
  • In-depth knowledge (both theoretical and practicable) of: auditing, process control, management/strategic control, risk management, organisation, change management and information technology.
  • Demonstrated being able to deal with different cultures, people and styles. A Global Mindset (looking for the benefit of the larger Group than going for personal benefit only).
  • Awareness and knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance developments in the industry in the location.
  • Awareness and knowledge of (basic) IT controls (integrated auditing) relevant for the industry.
  • Awareness and knowledge of Asset Management products, the AAM strategy and industry.
  • University/higher education, preferably business economics/banking or think and act on Academic level due to having the right experience.

Finished post graduate professional Audit preferably one or more of the following: (Dutch) RA, (Dutch) RO, (UK) ACCA, (US) CPA, (US) CIA or a (US) CFSA (or similar).
