Senior Associate Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services – Banking and IFRS - PwC

A career within Capital Markets Accounting Advisory Services, will provide you with the opportunity to be responsible for complex financial reporting issues around deals and other transformational events. You’ll tackle client’s needs with a solution oriented approach that creatively addresses complex financial reporting problems for high profile transactions and you’ll have significant interaction with senior company management teams, bankers, lawyers and other advisers.

PwC’s Financial Services (“FS”) team within the Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Services (“CMAAS”) business unit is growing rapidly through the services being provided to banks and insurers in risk, regulatory and accounting. This growth creates interesting functions for accountants and risk professionals acting as advisors in the area of complex IFRS and prudential regulatory matters.

We are expanding our CMAAS FS practice and looking for talented accounting professionals with a technical IFRS accounting focus. As part of the FS team, you will be focused on advising clients on financial reporting matters as well as complex IFRS accounting questions.

Requirements
You are a passionate technical accountant interested to build a more in-depth knowledge of financial reporting and accounting consulting, particularly in relation to IFRS 9. You would like to further improve your consulting skills and develop relationships with the clients. Furthermore: 

  • You hold a university degree in accounting (RA/ ACA or equivalent);
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as an accountant or a finance professional in a financial institution or consultancy firm;
  • You have robust knowledge on application of IFRS technical accounting, including IFRS 9. You would like to continuously deepen your knowledge in technical accountancy and stay abreast of the latest developments in accounting and financial reporting;
  • You work well under pressure and are committed to meet the deadlines;
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English;

What the job entails
As an accounting advisory professional, you will focus on providing financial reporting and accounting advice to international and local banks. You will be responsible for advising clients in the area of financial reporting, implementation or application of accounting standards, and solving complex accounting issues in financial statements.

Together with the team, you will be responsible for the entire process from first contact with the client until the project evaluation. The areas below will form important part of your tasks: 

  • You will closely collaborate with clients when processing complex transactions under the applicable accounting standards;
  • You will proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above;
  • You will be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients;
  • You will contribute to the development of your own and your team’s technical acumen;
  • You will develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges; and
  • You will supervise and coach your team members and ensure that they are able to continue developing; both professionally and personally.

As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist the team in various aspects of the project
  • Prepare deliverables
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen
  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
  • Ensure you are adhering to compliance matters
  • Work on developing internal relationships and your PwC brand
